Go Dulce Go!

25 May

On May 27th, one of our dearest family friends will take to the streets to run the Ottawa Half marathon in honour of our daughter Lauren.

Dulce has been preparing for months, tirelessly fundraising and training for the big weekend. In fact, I ran into her while she was training the other night – well actually I was driving and Dulce was running 🙂 She spotted me with her laser vision, while I was two cars away at a stop light. Obviously a woman of many talents!

Lauren, Stephen and I will be cheering Dulce on from home, but if you’re in the Ottawa area this weekend make sure to cheer on the beautiful brunette wearing lavender on her shoes (a little piece of Lauren with her) and a picture of Lauren on her shirt.

Good Luck Dulce!

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand
– Irish Blessing

Please feel free to show your support for Dulce by leaving her an encouraging comments below, I’m sure that she would love to read them!

    Dulce,although we’ve never met, I am in awe of your inspired support and dedication to Lauren and her family. Through your generosity of spirit, you have brought awareness of this disease to so many and, hopefully, that was backed by their financial support. Good luck in your race. Hope you got lots of sponsors. God Bless. Kari Schneider

    Amanda,

    I’ve read back on some of your blog entries. What incredible strength and courage you and Stephen have and although you may have heard this a lot, it truly is inspirational…. your updates describe the honest and heartbreaking truth about Lauren’s disease while at the same time showcasing an unwavering commitment on your part to appreciate every moment and recognize every positive there is to be recognized. Reading about your journey and thinking about the strength it must take you, Stephen, and Lauren to take each day as it comes and get in smiles and laughs where possible and appreciate everything there is to appreciate makes me 1) want to renew my effort to appreciate the daily joys in life and 2) think that if there ever comes a time where my strength is truly tested, I will think about the strength that you and Stephen have summoned in processing Lauren’s diagnosis and disease, all the while continuing to be the best possible parents to her (at amazing one’s at that it sounds like!), and Lauren’s strength in dealing with her disease, and I will draw strength from all three of you. Thank you for sharing.
